Ringing in the New Year

Our baby entered his second year with us this morning! It is 2013, yay! 2012 was so amazing, except maybe the last month when Jack was really sick almost all month. We got sick again right before Christmas and ended up getting on zpack for sinus infection and ear infection. Christmas Day was horrible for the poor little bugger and he barely ate or drank. When we went to the doctor last week, his weight was up to over 23 pounds, though. I guess he did loose a lot with the flu. Jack now says "Mama" and "Dada" and gives great kisses. They are the kind where his whole mouth is open and it is more like he is trying to eat your face. He is fast and lovable. Jace is such a good big brother, always taking care of him. Jack has at least seven teeth and just got his first haircut this weekend. He looks so grown up! He can occasionally pull himself up to standing and he will be walking before we know it. I am sad because I do not want to lose my little baby. Sippy cups are still not his forte but we are getting better at them. Jack now loves most table food, especially chicken, so we are really trying to phase out the bottles. He is also still on formula, but probably drinks about half whole milk, too. After we run out of formula (which will probably be a month) we will likely not buy any more. I can't believe a year ago we were anxiously awaiting the arrival of Jack. We didn't know if he was a boy or a girl. We didn't know he would be so handsome and so lovable. We didn't know that he would fit into our family so wonderfully and that Jace would have a new best friend (and not a rival). He wears about 18 months and I have most of his baby stuff packed up and ready to hand down. We have about 10 people we know that are having babies in 2013 so we will have plenty of opportunities to get rid of the baby stuff. Nick's cousins Ryan and Jen will be having a little boy so they will love the John Deere stuff from Jace/Jack. Both of our boys are still amazing sleepers and Jack usually sleeps about 12 hours still. Even with being sick he did not get up too much in the middle of the night. He loves naps, too. Jack got a penguin Dreamlite for Christmas and he likes to watch it at night. It is a light up pillow that projects stars on the ceiling. He also got a light up seahorse that he sleeps with (similar to a glowworm - Jace had a glowworm and loved it). Other than that, he received lots of gifts but his favorite is a hippo that spits out large balls. You put the balls inside the hippo and they bounce around, then he spits them out. Both boys love it and have wore the batteries down on it once. Jack is so wonderful. We are incredibly blessed with this beautiful bouncing baby boy and could not ask for a better family.
