At eleven months old, Jack is a regular ham. He is always full of smiles, giggles, and a he has a silly, crooked tooth grin that just makes you laugh. I don't know if his teeth are really crooked or if they just look that way because they haven't all grown in yet. He has been teething really badly again this week, chomping on everything. He has eight teeth but I think he is working on tooth 9 and tooth 10 if not more.
Jack now walks around on the furniture like a pro. He is about at the same level of activity as Jace was at 11 months. Jack is not nearly as big, though. I would say he is 5 pounds smaller than Jace was. He is in all 18 month clothing but only wears a size 3 diaper. I am pretty sure Jace could not have done that!
Jack loves to get into cupboards and drawers. He also gets his fingers hurt a lot. His favorite thing now is to get onto ottomans and onto the furniture. He can get on the ottoman at the foot of our bed and up onto the bed. He fell off once (the ottoman kind of broke his fall) so now we are very cautious. He also can get on the ottoman in the living room and jump on the couch. Jack and Jace make a "tent" or a "fort" virtually every night which includes the couch and the ottoman. They don't even need toys!
For months Jack has had troubles with constipation, so starting last week we are giving him a tiny bit of Miralax in one bottle a day. He really only gets one bottle at home - we and Nancy are trying to wean him. Anyhow, it has helped a lot and he seems to be getting better about "going".
Finally this weekend Jack said "Jace!" Now he has said it several times and I am sure his vocabulary will continue to grow.
What else did Jack do last week? Well, when I stepped into our bedroom to gather laundry I left Jace and Jack alone in the tub. I wasn't gone more than a minute and he somehow climbed the side, slithered out of the tub and was hauling his little behind down the hall! He was crawling and laughing at full speed! I don't know how he got out (and Jace couldn't tell me either), I don't know how he didn't get hurt, but he was sure proud of himself! We learned our lesson not to leave them unattended, even for a second.
We are looking forward to celebrating Jack's first birthday in a few weeks. Nick and I both agree the last year has gone by WAY too fast.
