Today we decided to take Jack to the doctor for his vomiting. Last night he projectile vomited again, completely drenching me, himself and the chair. Then he spit up a ton just a few hours later. I have been recording every time he vomited the last five days or so (along with every diaper, ever time he ate, etc.). I considered taking him in last week, but finally made the decision today that I could not worry about him any longer. I was not getting much sleep (less than just staying up with Jack) because I was worrying so much about Jack throwing up on his sleep. For the record, he has never thrown up in his sleep, only immediately after eating.
This has been going on for about three weeks, up to twice a day. However, it does not seem to upset Jack to get sick. It isn't like he cries or acts terribly uncomfortable - he just vomits. We kept hoping this would end on its own, but it has not.
So, Dr. Amir sent us to the hospital to get an ultrasound and see if it was pyloric stenosis. This is a condition that Weston had surgery for when he was about one month old. I was a nervous wreck, but at least I kind of knew what to expect. Thankfully, the ultrasound showed that his pyloris was normal! That means that Dr. Amir thinks it is reflux and we will be giving Jack Zantac for awhile. Hopefully that helps out because we don't like having Jack vomit up his food.
On a good note, Jack weighed 9 pounds 13 ounces and he was in the 25% percentile. That is the same that he was last time. It is very good that he is gaining weight normally.
I will try to get pictures posted this week. It has been hectic around here trying to get on a regular schedule but we are thrilled to have time with our two little boys!
