We had our first doctor's appointment on Friday. We got to see Dr. Hamburger, thankfully, rather than the nurse practitioner. They did a prenancy test on me, and Nick was thrilled when it came back positive. I don't think they did one on me last time, nor did I come in so early, just at seven weeks. I didn't mind, though.
Dr. Hamburger did his exam and explained all of the testing that we can do for the baby. There is cystic fibrosis testing now, and the quad test (which I think measures risks for things like downs syndrome). We are planning to decline all of the testing again.
Then Dr. Hamburger suggested they have an ultrasound done so we could see the baby. We were thrilled and it must have been a slow day at the office because the ultrasound technician got us in right away.
We got to see beautiful Baby #2 and a little flutter of a heartbeat on the monitor! She thought we measured closer to six weeks than seven, but Dr. Hamburger came in and saw the baby. He said everything looked fine and he is excited for us since he knew we had been waiting for this baby for well over a year.
Nick and I were so excited to see the little guy, and we already can't wait to see him/her again.
