Six month check up
Yesterday was a fun day! The boys got to visit my work. Then the whole family went to McDonald's for lunch (Jace thinks this is a special treat) and then to see Dr. Amir. Our little monkey, Jack, is turning into a chunky monkey! He is so adorable and sweet with the little rolls on his legs and his big belly!
He was 20lbs 4 oz and about 27.25 inches long. He was near the 75% percentile for everything, which Dr. Amir said was just fine. He is sitting up like a perfect professional and loves to eat veggies and rice cereal. He is probably still eating close to 30 oz. of formula during the day, too.
Just this week we started Jack on sippy cups and we found one that kind of works. He gets better every time he tries! It will be good when he can drink more water on his own because right now he is getting pretty constipated due to the amount of solids he is eating. We have occasionally had to give him a few ounces of water in a bottle which helps.
Yesterday Jack got four shots (ow!) and so his chubby little legs are very sensitive. I feel bad for the poor baby! I did not have to stay in the room with him because we had Jace with us (I didn't want him to see it). Nick stayed with Jack and said that he did well. I hate the idea that they have to hurt my baby.
Jack still sleeps a good 10-12 hours a night and has no problems with that. We had to put the bumper in his crib because he was getting all his limbs stuck out the bars. He does much better with the bumper in there. We no longer swaddle his arms but we do still wrap up his legs so he is sort of in a sack.
He rolls like there is no tomorrow and has started pushing himself up and scooting backwards. I would not call it crawling, but he definitely pushes himself.
Jack also has no teeth yet. I swear I can still feel that hard, sharp bump on his upper left so we will see if that is the first tooth to pop out! I am not too worried about it, he seems perfectly happy as a toothless wonder. :)
Nick and I just can't believe our tiny little baby is getting so big! We saw two other babies this weekend - Tristan, Michelle's little guy and Riley, Jenny's baby. Both are older than him but I think he was bigger than both of them. He liked to play with their toys and they were very interested in eachother.
Today we are going to see baby Ellie. I am very excited and I am sure she will grow up liking Jack, too!
