This week Baby K is eighteen weeks old and only twenty two weeks away from being born! I gained all my weight back from last week, and I am 139.8 lbs. However, I can barely wear any of my regular clothes, so now I just look chubby rather than pregnant. Nick said "Didn't we go through this phase last time?" Yes, of course we did!
Jace is still adamant that he is going to have a little "sister" so we are wondering if he is psychic. Who else will be joining Jace when the new baby comes home? We have lots of bodies here waiting for the new baby. We have Junior, our African Gray parrot, and he is almost eight years old. Next is Oscar, our basset hound and he is six. Deuce is a big, hairy lab-mix. He is very sensitive and loves his parents but probably will keep his distance from the baby. We have two turtles, Duey and Luey, who have lived with us for over three years. Next, of course, is Jace! He will be 2.5 and we think he will be a great big brother. Although he is a little bit jealous when it comes to Nancy (our daycare provider) or his Granny Annie, he is generally pretty good when it comes to babies. Last but not least is our newest addition, Punch, who is a shepherd mix and he is just about nine months old right now. He has a lot of spunk, although he is settling down every day, so we are sure he will be very interested in the baby.
This weekend we had a big accomplishment - Brent helped Nick move the desk and bookcase to the basement so now what was the office will be the new baby's room. Many people have asked us if we are going to decorate any differently for Baby K. No, we will be using the same crib and bedding as Jace had. The room is an off-white so it will be fine for a boy or a girl. His or her crib bedding will be trains with animals riding in them in muted, pastel colors. It fits well since Nick is an engineer and he drives a train.
Some days I feel Baby K move several times but sometimes I don't feel him or her at all. I am anxiously awaiting our next ultrasound this week so we can see our sweet little baby again!
